children’s IKEA

A department created exclusively for children/babies ages 0 – 14. Displays and product areas in the children’s section are created to enhance a child’s imagination and growth through play.

Let’s Play Campaign

The let’s play campaign takes place every year at every IKEA store. For every soft toy sold, the IKEA foundation makes a donation of 1 euro towards organizations that support children in communities that are facing conflict such as war and poverty.

During the campaign, play items and children’s furniture are displayed in various locations in the store. These displays are also designed to demonstrate the importance of learning through play, while making them colorful and vibrant to have them be appealing to kids.

children’s IKEA entrance

The children’s department (aka Children’s IKEA) has it’s own playful entrance separating itself from the previous department.

Every year, as the Let’s Play campaign takes place, the displays at the entrance changes according to new play items that were launched

Department displays

Children’s items in the department are displayed in playful and creative way to catch the attention of our young customers.

Most products are displayed at a height that’s easy for children to reach and try. Backwalls and shelves are also created to look fun while they demonstrate the function and purpose of the items.

Since this is the children’s department, a lot of imagination goes behind creations of displays. For instance, soft toys in hot air balloons (last few photos). Products from around the store were put together to create these displays, giving our customers tips and tricks on how IKEA products can be used as such.

CHILDREN’S IKEA ACROSS THE STORE

Often, especially during the Let’s Play Campaign, soft toys are displayed around the store in other departments to add a playful vibe within certain product areas.

Stocks of the displayed soft toys are placed nearby for customers to grab. With the toys shown in various areas, they are placed to act out a story, e.g. pandas having a pillow fight in the Home textiles department (third photo).

CHILDREN’S SUMMER WORKSHOP

In summer of 2019, we hosted a workshop for kids’ activities at the children’s department. Activities included arts & crafts, baking and games. The area was arranged with various IKEA products and furniture to accommodate this event.
