RELAX

design & implementation by Theekshi

This bedroom is an oasis of calm and wellness, a place to feel safe and rested between one hectic day and another.

This space belongs to an Algerian couple, in their early thirties, who loves to travel. The wife is a social media influencer who vlogs about their travel while the husband is a professional photographer who also helps his wife with her channel. They are both a film enthusiasts and enjoy collecting DVDs of their favorite movies.

The main material that was highlighted in this bedroom was bamboo wood. Even though most of the furniture and accessories were made out of actual bamboo, the door and window frames were stained and sanded to its imitate the color and texture. The main colors used in this room were a light dusty blue and light grey to give out a calm and relaxing feel. A few black metal pieces of furniture were used to add a touch of an industrial look. This also includes the frames fixed onto the glass panels of the window. A recessed niche was created to fit a dresser solution with SVALNAS modular shelving. A reading nook was also designed to fit in a book case and other storage for reading material.

Storage is key in this bedroom. With their constant travelling and photography-based professions, they are in need of various and practical places to store their equipment. Neat and simple storages such as a set of drawers that doubles up as a window seat to store their cables, wires, remotes etc.

Space in their wardrobe has been made to store their travel bags and backpacks. Wall mounted cabinets installed to store DVDs and other TV related accessories.

Current activity: The couple arrives home after a long day of work. Busy life is left outside, now it is the perfect time to calm down with a good movie in a cozy bed. Black out curtains and soft finishes create a better effect.
